Odds and Ends 9/30/2020

Welcome Back! Here at Odds and Ends, I plan to look at some stats, trends, storylines, etc. as they play out.  I will also give my opinion on some issues, but you can take that for what it's worth.  In the past, I have usually listed all the teams that reach bowl eligibility, and those that have been eliminated, but since the NCAA has done away with any requirements, that feature will not appear this year.   LIR Let's start with the Last Interception Race (LIR).  In this space, I will be chronicling who has the most attempts without an interception.  This is a lot harder to keep up with with teams playing so sporadically!  After week 2, here are the top 5: 1. D'Eriq King, Miami- 94 2. Jarrett Doege, WVU- 62 3. Sam Hartman, WF- 57 4. Skylar Thompson, Kan St- 54 5. Bryson Lucero, UAB- 49 I think this will be a fun race to watch!  I wonder how far we will get into the season until everyone has an interception?  This will also be an odd race to watch, as not everyone is start

Power Rankings 9/29/2020

Welcome Back! Normally, I list the teams that moved the most from week to week.  However, this week, I added (back) in the Big Ten and Mountain West Conference teams.  Since 25 teams were added (Air Force was already in my Power Rankings, even though they were only initially scheduled for 2 games- Navy and Army), that means those at the bottom were pushed down 25 spots.  For example, UTEP went from #77 to #102 simply because there were more teams (they're still the worst in FBS, though they are closer to climbing out of the bottom spot).  Therefore, I am just going to list the teams and their ranks, and perhaps next week, I will go back to listing their movements.  Unless I add the Pac 12 and/or the MAC.  I'm not sure when I'll add them yet... And here are the new Power Rankings! 1 Alabama 2 Clemson 3 Ohio State 4 Oklahoma 5 Georgia 6 Notre

TWIF Notes 9/28/2020

Welcome Back! We had an another exciting weekend of College Football!  The SEC returned to play, we had upsets and near upsets, and it looks like we may have all 10 conferences playing football by the start of November!  Let's get to the reviews.  Please understand that future opponents are apt to change at a moment's notice. Thursday September 24 UAB routed South Alabama 42-10, looking much better than they did in their 1st 2 games.  However, their play against Miami is looking better and better with each victory the Hurricanes pile up.  The Jaguars looked good in their 1st 2 games, but laid an egg here, and finish the non-conference portion of their schedule at 1-2.  They jump into conference play next week at home against Troy.  UAB is 2-1 and opens conference play against surprisingly undefeated UTSA. Friday, September 25 UTSA stayed undefeated by surviving Middle Tennessee 37-35.  The Blue Raiders missed a late 2-point conversion attempt, which was only necessary because
