TWIF Notes 11/30/2020

Welcome Back! We had another exciting weekend of College Football!  There were plenty of postponements and cancellations (so many...), but also lots of close games!  We had 44 games, so let's get to the reviews.  Please understand that future opponents are apt to change at a moment's notice. Thursday, November 26 Utah State won the battle of winless teams to prevail over New Mexico 41-27.  The Aggies scored 28 straight points in the 3rd quarter to overcome a halftime deficit and open up a lead the Lobos could not make up.   Friday, November 27 Liberty pounded UMass 45-0 to move to 9-1, and now the Flames must face undefeated Coastal Carolina, with a chance to ruin the Chanticleers' season.  The Minutemen remain winless. Iowa State all but clinched a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game with a 23-20 victory over Texas , just about eliminating the Longhorns from any chance they had to sneak into the CG.  The Cyclones need a win over WVU this week or a loss by either Oklaho

Paul's Picks Week 13

Welcome Back! Last week I was a modest 34-10, or 77.3%.  Overall, I am now 291-105, or 73.5%, an increase of 0.5% from last week.  My goal every year is to finish at or above 80%, though I've never actually achieved that, but I almost always finish above 75%.  Last year I finished at 76.5% for the regular season, and 76.2% overall, which isn't too shabby.   I want to point out that my predictions come simply from 45+ years of watching and following college football.  I do not have the time (or staff!) to do massive research into depth charts, injuries, transfers, etc, and so, if I were you, I certainly wouldn't take my picks to Vegas (or wherever) and bet the mortgage with them!  My brothers and I have been predicting the games among ourselves off and on for many years, and I should point out that I haven't "won" in a while, but I also haven't finished last, either, so there's that.  Anyway... let's get to the picks! Thursday November 26 New Mexico

Odds and Ends 11/25/2020

Welcome Back! Here at Odds and Ends, I plan to look at some stats, trends, storylines, etc. as they play out.  I will also give my opinion on some issues, but you can take that for what it's worth.  In the past, I have usually listed all the teams that reach bowl eligibility, and those that have been eliminated, but since the NCAA has done away with any requirements, that feature will not appear this year.   LIR Let's start with the Last Interception Race (LIR).  In this space, I will be chronicling who has the most attempts without an interception.  This is a lot harder to keep up with, with teams playing so sporadically!  After week 12, here are the top 5: 1. Tyrell Pigrome, WKU- 237 2. Sam Hartman, WF- 195 3. DJ Uiagalelei, Clem- 104 4. David Mills, Stan- 56 5. Stone Norton, FIU- 52 Skylar Thompson (Kansas St) and Lowell Narcisse (UTSA) are both out for the season, so they have been dropped from the list. I think this will be a fun race to watch!  I wonde
