Paul's Picks 2025 Week 7

Welcome Back! Last week, I had my worst week so far, finishing 38-13 (74.5%), making me 336-79 overall with a winning percentage of 81.0% (down 0.9% from last week).  This week we are back up to 56 games, 5 more than last week, and there are some good matchups. I'm only 1-1 so far after last night's games. Let's see if I can stay above 80%. So... on with the picks! Thursday, October 9 La Tech @ Kennesaw State - The Bulldogs defeated the Owls 33-0 last year in their only previous matchup, but this time the game will be played in Fifth Third Bank Stadium. KSU is 3-2/1-0 in their 2nd season at the FBS level, and are riding a 3-game winning streak with all of those at home, and a road loss by 1 at Wake Forest. However, LT is 4-1/2-0 with their only loss at LSU. Interestingly, both teams were off last Saturday, and will be off next Saturday as well. I expect a good game, but think the Bulldogs are headed for the CUSA Championship Game. LT wins. East Carolina @ Tulane - The Pirat...

Odds and Ends 10/8/25

Welcome Back! We are almost 1/2 of the way through the season for most teams, and there is a lot more interesting info, as we are now starting to see trends. However, OOC games are just about done, so that goes on the back burner until the end of the year. We do have some Wednesday games this week, so I'll start with those. Wednesday, October 8 Missouri State @ Middle Tennessee - The Blue Raiders lead this brief series 1-0, but I can find no further info on the contest- when it was, where it was played, or the score. The Bears are 2-3/0-1, with a close loss to WKU last week. MTSU is 1-4/0-1, with a loss to an FCS team (by 20 points!). Both teams have played Marshall, with Mo State winning by 1 and the Blue Raiders losing by 14. Both teams were also off last week. Bears win to get their 1st ever CUSA win. Liberty @ UTEP - The Flames have defeated the Miners each of the last 2 years, winning by at least 14 points both times. Both teams are off to 1-4/0-1 starts, with both victories o...

Power Rankings 10/7/25

Welcome Back! As expected, the rankings are volatile, as only 3 teams remain in the same spot as last week, and just 13 moved 1 spot. In addition, we have a new #1, 3 new teams moving into the Top 10, and 7 new teams in the top 35. However, the largest mover only moved 34 (Penn State), as opposed to 3 teams moving 40+ last week.  Here is how far the teams moved: Less than 10 spots- 93 teams 10-19 spots- 34 20-29 spots- 8 30-39 spots- 1 Here is how many teams each conference has in the top 35: SEC- 10 Big Ten- 8 Big 12- 7 ACC- 5 American- 3 SBC- 1 Ind- 1 If the Playoff started tomorrow, here is who would make it. Keep in mind the 5 highest ranked conference champions are automatically in, and I have to assume that the highest ranking team of each conference would be the champion. These would be the seedings: 1. Ohio St 2. Indiana 3. Texas Tech 4. Ole Miss 5. Oregon 6. Miami, Fl 7. Texas A&M 8. Missouri 9. Alabama 10. Oklahoma 11. Vandy 12. North Texas What a weird lineup that wo...
