Welcome Back! * NOTE *- I apologize for not publishing this morning, but we had our 1st HS game tonight (yes, our 1st game of the season was on a THURSDAY!) and that was all that was on my mind. I've had these picks done since Sunday, and I've probably already missed on some (that's how you'll know I didn't cheat...). Last week, I was very mediocre with a 3-2 record, a winning percentage of 60%. The games I missed both went down to the wire.  Oh well, there are still many, many games to go. And this week, there are a LOT of FBS vs FCS games, which history shows us is won by FBS teams greater than 90% of the time. So I just have to do well on the other games. There are 91(!) games in total this week, which I hope is the most for any week this year, because it took me a long time to prepare for this. So... on with the picks! Welcome Back! Today will be a little sparse, as there were only 5 games this past weekend, and there just isn't much to analyze. Interconference results As I mentioned above, there were only 5 games, and 2 were conference games. Here is where we stand so far: Big 12 1-0 MWC 2-1 ACC 0-1 FCS 0-1 There will be a lot more games in the FCS column next week. Intraconference results The only conference with divisions is the Sun Belt, and they have yet to play a game. Undefeated/Winless teams I will start to list these after Week 2 (we just finished Week Zero). Bowl eligible/eliminated I will start listing these as soon as teams become bowl eligible (6 wins) or eliminated (7 losses). Look for this in October.   Welcome Back! As you might expect, there weren't very many changes, as there were only 5 games involving 9 FBS teams. After their big win, Iowa State moves up 3 spots to #26, and Stanford drops 4 spots to #120 after their loss to Hawaii. The other 7 teams stayed the same or moved 1 spot up or down.  This is because they were far enough ahead or behind the team below or above them to absorb that win/loss. However, now the margin between those that didn't move and the team(s) directly above or below is narrower. As a reminder, I use a points based system. Teams start out with a certain number of points based on 12 different factors, and those points range from a low of 54.784 (#136 Kennesaw State) to a high of 1,331 points (#1 Ohio State), so as you can see, there are almost 1300 points separating 1st and last place- plenty of room to fit in 134 additional teams. In other words, teams are an average of 9.7 points apart, but of course they aren't spaced evenly; some are 20-3...
