Paul's Picks Week 9

Welcome Back! Last week I was 46-9 for a tremendous 83.6%!  I actually won the AJC Pick 'em contest last week, getting 14 out of 15 right!  But to be honest, there wasn't much drama last week, so my doing well was not surprising.  After 8 weeks, I am 394-122, for a very respectable winning percentage of .764, but I don't think I'm getting back to 80% (which is always my goal).  My goal now is to stay above 75%.  This week, there are a lot of games that could go either way, so I don't expect to be above 80% again. On to the games! Thursday, October 25 Baylor @ West Virginia - The Mountaineers suffered their 1st loss 2 weeks ago, but have had 2 weeks to fix their problems.  Baylor is much improved, and is also off a bye, but I don't think the Bears can win in Morgantown.  WVU wins a close one. Ball State @ Ohio - The Bobcats just keep bobbing along (pun intended!). They should win this ...

Odds and Ends 10/24/18

Welcome Back! Here at Odds and Ends, I plan to look at some stats, trends, storylines, etc. as they play out.  I will also give my opinion on some issues, but you can take that for what it's worth. LIR I think we can declare Tua Tagovailoa of Alabama the winner in this category.  He has attempted 152 passes without an interception, which is more then double the next person.  Also, he has surpassed the earlier 2018 mark of 143 set by Cole McDonald of Hawai'i.   All Wins and No Wins This is where I will list all the teams that are still undefeated, and all the teams that are winless.  These lists will get smaller as the season goes on, of course. Undefeated Alabama Clemson Notre Dame UCF USF Winless San Jose State UTEP Some interesting tidbits: There are now only 2 winless teams, with Nebraska defeating Minnesota last week. Undefeated teams have been whittled down to 5, as 3 suffered their first loss last week (Ci...

Power Rankings 10/23/18

Welcome Back! Before I get to the Rankings, I would like to spend a little time on the conference races. AAC In the East, UCF, Temple, and USF are all undefeated, and Cincinnati has only one loss.  ECU and UConn are eliminated as each has 4 losses.  UCF still has all 3 on their schedule.  Temple has UCF and USF, and must also play Houston.  USF still must play the other 3, and also has Houston.  Cincy has USF and UCF left, but also has Navy. In the West, Houston is the only undefeated team, and SMU is the only 1-loss team.  Tulane is the only 2-loss team left, but I don't see them challenging Houston.  Come to think of it, I don't see SMU as much of a threat, either.  Navy, Memphis, and Tulsa are all but eliminated, with 3 losses each. ACC In the Atlantic Division, Clemson is the only undefeated team, with NC State and Boston College the only 1-loss teams.  Clemson has already defeated NC State, but must still face BC...
