Paul's Picks Week 14

Welcome Back! Happy Thanksgiving! Last week was somewhat better than recent weeks, as I was 48-17, a winning percentage of 73.8%. There are 67 games this week, two more than last week. Games are much harder to predict now that we have moved into conference play, where there are all these rivalries. Overall, I am 587-209, a percentage of 73.7%, no change from last week. I'm now below 75% overall, which means I will probably finish there unless I have a really good final week! So far, I am 1-1 after the early games, thanks to MACtion. So... on with the picks! Thursday, November 28 Memphis @ Tulane - The Tigers lead the series 24-15-1, but the Green Wave have won the last 2, and 4 of the last 6, including the last 3 played in New Orleans. Both teams are 9-2, but Memphis is only 5-2 in the AAC while Tulane is looking to finish the season undefeated in conference play. Both of the losses for the Tigers were on the road, and that continues. The Green Wave wash over the Tigers. Friday, No...

Odds and Ends 11/27/24

Welcome Back! Next week I will give the final report of how the conferences did in OOC games, as there are several this week to add to the tally. Intraconference results The SBC West leads the East at 7-6 as the Sun Belt is the sole conference with divisions. The SBC East won 1 of 1 games against the West last weekend. There is 1 game remaining: ODU @ Arkansas State. Undefeated/Winless teams Here are the remaining undefeated teams, listed alphabetically.  Oregon 11-0 2 teams suffered their 1st loss in week 13, so we are down to just Oregon out of 134 teams (0.7%) that are still undefeated.  These teams are still winless, again listed alphabetically.  Kent State 0-12 We are still at 1 out of 134 teams (0.7%) that are winless.  These are the teams that have a win, but none against FBS teams. These are also listed alphabetically. Purdue Southern Miss UMass   Overall 3 teams have a win, but no FBS wins. Here is how that breaks down by conference: SBC- 1 Big Ten- 1 I...

Power Rankings 11/26/24

Welcome Back! Before I present my Power Rankings, we have 2 mid-week games. Here are my picks for tonight's games. Tuesday, November 19 Toledo @ Akron - The Rockets lead the series 13-9, winning the last 4, including in the 2017 MAC CG. Toledo is 7-4/4-3, and were just eliminated from the MAC CG race, so I'm not sure how motivated they'll be, as some of their best players may be eyeing the transfer portal. However, the Zips are only 3-8/2-5, and have been one of the worst FBS teams for the last 6 seasons (a combined 10-55 in that span, with 4 of those wins vs FCS teams). Rockets win. Kent State @ Buffalo - The Bulls lead the series 15-14, winning 24-6 last year, but the Golden Flashes have won 2 of the last 3, including the last time they played in UB Stadium. The Bulls are still (barely) alive in the MAC title chase, so they should handle KSU easily, sending the Flashes to their 1st winless season since they were 0-11 in 1998 under HC Dean Pees in his 1st year. Bulls tramp...
