TWIF Notes 10/27/25

Welcome Back! Wow! We had yet another exciting weekend, and my predicting percentage took a huge hit (more on that in my Paul's Picks on Thursday). And we had yet another coach let go. This year, I decided to keep up with which teams I watch on tv, with a goal of seeing every team. Now, there is no way I can watch every team play a full game, so my criteria is seeing every team play at least one offensive and one defensive drive or series. So far, I have seen 126 of the 136 FBS teams, including every P4 team. I am only missing 2 teams from the Mountain West, 5 from the MAC, and 3 from CUSA. If that seems like I am prioritizing the G5 teams less, that is only partially true. My TV package does not include ESPN+ or CBS Sports Network, so I have to wait for teams to appear on Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN, SEC, BTN, or ACC networks. I also have the MWC app (it's free!), which allows me to watch contests from the Mountain West Conference that don't appear on other networks. For this reas...

Paul's Picks 2025 Week 9

Welcome Back! Last week, I was slightly better than the week before, but still below my 75% target, finishing 43-17 (71.7%), making me 418-113 overall with a winning percentage of 78.7% (down 0.9% from last week).  This week we are back down to 53 games, the fewest since Week 6, but the lineup is rather sparse, with few games you feel like you must see. I'm only 1-3 so far after the early games, which is pretty terrible, but better (slightly) than the 1-4 start to last week. CUSA games are destroying my percentage! Let's see if I can get back above 80% for the year, but I'm afraid that ship has sailed. So... on with the picks! Thursday, October 23 South Alabama @ Georgia State - The Panthers hold a 5-4 lead in this brief series, winning the last 3, but they haven't played each other since 2020. GSU is 4-1 in games played in Atlanta, but are 1-6/0-3 this year with no FBS wins. However, the Jaguars are also 1-6/0-3 with no FBS wins. The difference is that SA has 3 losses ...

Odds and Ends 10/22/25

Welcome Back! We are 1/2 of the way through the season for most teams, and there is a lot more interesting info, as we are now starting to see trends. However, OOC games are just about done, so that goes on the back burner until the end of the year. We do have some Wednesday games this week, so I'll start with those. Wednesday, October 22 Middle Tennessee @ Delaware - The Fightin' Blue Hens have won both prior meetings by a combined score of 113-10, but those were played in 1977 and 1978. Delaware has had a successful debut in the FBS so far, with a record of 3-3/1-2 at the midpoint of their season. The Blue Raiders have been awful this year at 1-5/0-3, somehow winning at Nevada after losing to an FCS team in their opener. There's gonna be a lot of blue on the field and in the stands for this game! Hens peck their way to victory. Missouri State @ New Mexico State - Both teams come into this game with 3-3 overall records, but the Bears are 1-1 in CUSA while the Aggies are 1-...

Power Rankings 10/21/25

Welcome Back! Before I begin, there are 2 games today. Last week I was 0-3 on the Tuesday games. Let's see if I can do a bit better. The good news is, I can't do worse... Tuesday, October 21 Kennesaw State @ FIU - The Owls won 27-26 last year in their only previous meeting. KSU comes into this game a surprising 4-2/2-0 and on a 4-game winning streak. But the Panthers are coming off a 25-6 upset at CUSA favorite WKU, and they are back in the title chase at 3-3/1-1. FIU is 1-1 at home this season in FBS games while the Owls are 0-2 on the road, with both losses to P4 teams. The winner will keep themselves on pace with CUSA leader JSU, who is off this week. These are 2 evenly matched teams, but can KSU keep it rolling? Panthers win a close one.  WKU @ La Tech - The Bulldogs lead this series 6-5, winning 12-7 last year, but the Hilltoppers have won 2 of the last 3. Even though the series is relatively short, there have been some high stakes matchups, with LT winning in the 1973 Cam...
