Week 14 Picks
This is the last week of the regular season, and includes the conference championship games. Last week, I was 41-21, for a pretty awful 66.1%, which brings me to 608-210, dropping me below 75% to 74.3%. I need to do well this week and in the bowls, which typically are difficult to predict, due to layoffs, coaching changes, injuries, etc. There are only a few games this week, so let's get to it!
USC over Stanford (PAC12CG)- USC has been riding high since midseason, and defeated Stanford when Bryce Love was healthy. The Trojans will keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a close victory, and hope for massive chaos elsewhere.
FIU over UMass- The Minutemen have played pretty well this year, though their record doesn't show it. However, they've won 4 of their last 5 and will certainly give the Panthers all they can handle.
UCF over Memphis (AACCG)- The Golden Knights defeated the Tigers 40-13 on September 30, which was Memphis' only loss on the year. This should be much closer, but the Knights will grab the Group of Five's New Year's Bowl berth.
FSU over La Monroe- The Seminoles will become bowl eligible with this rescheduled game that was originally cancelled due to hurricanes. This will probably not be close...
Toledo over Akron (MACCG)- This is another rematch from Oct 21, when Toledo won 48-21. The Rockets are the better team, and should win.
N Texas over FAU (CUSACG)- The Owls defeated the Mean Green 69-31 back on Oct 21, and this would seem to be a mismatch, as they are playing in Boca Raton again. However, North Texas has not lost since then, and that is their only loss since losing to Iowa on Sept 16. This is my upset special!
Oklahoma over TCU (BIG12CG)- In yet another rematch, the Sooners' offense will be too much for the Horned Frogs' defense, and clinch a berth in the playoff.
Georgia Southern over Coastal Carolina- The Eagles seem to have turned things around since losing their first 9 games. The Chanticleers should prove to be little opposition.
Georgia State over Idaho- While the Panthers have struggled at home, they should be able to defeat the Vandals in what will be Idaho's last game in the FBS ranks (they move to FCS next year). Georgia St has already qualified for a bowl.
Appalachian State over Louisiana- The Ragin' Cajuns need a victory to become bowl eligible, but the Mountaineers will prove too much, and will clinch a tie for the conference title.
Georgia over Auburn- Kerryon Johnson is questionable to play, and the Bulldogs will correct the mistakes from the first meeting and exact revenge on the Tigers. A playoff berth awaits the winner.
New Mexico St over South Alabama- The Jaguars have had a strange season, defeating Troy and Arkansas State, and losing to Georgia Southern (52-0) and Idaho in 2 overtimes. The Aggies can get to bowl eligibility with a win, and they'll be able to do that at home.
Troy over Arkansas St- The winner of this game will be guaranteed at least a tie for the Sun Belt Conference title, depending on the result of the App St-Louisiana game.
Boise St over Fresno St (MWCCG)- The Broncos should win this rematch of this game that played just last week, won by the Bulldogs. This time, Boise will be playing on the blue turf.
Clemson over Miami (ACCCG)- The Tigers are on a roll, and the Hurricanes are struggling. Clemson should secure their spot in the playoff. This is one of only 2 non-rematches in championship games. Should Miami win, they should be playoff bound.
Wisconsin over Ohio State (BIG10CG)- The Badgers have heard all year how they are not good enough, and they remember the 59-0 beat down Ohio St gave them in the Championship game a couple of years ago. They will come out with a chip on their shoulder and take it to the buckeyes and secure their playoff spot. This is the other non-rematch.
That's all for now. May your day and your loved ones be blessed!
