Power Rankings 10-18-22
Welcome Back!
After 7 weeks, I have finally dropped all of my preseason factors. This means that we have one more week of extreme volatility this week, but that now the rankings are based solely on the results from this year.
While I will still list who moved up or down the most, I would prefer that you focus on where each team actually is, as the movement was still affected by the final elimination of the preseason points. You will notice that I have new teams at both the top and the bottom!
We also have the return of ties. Those of you who have been following this blog from its inception may remember that my 1st year of Power Rankings was littered with ties- sometimes I would have several teams tied for the same ranking even. As I have refined my formula, those have occurred less and less. But this week, they rear their ugly heads, as I have a tie at #77 and at #99.
While there are still a few anomalies, as in some teams I feel are too high and some too low, by and large, I'm pretty pleased with where 90% or more of the teams are placed. Again, my goal is not so much to be correct right now, but to be correct at the end of the season.
Here are the teams that improved the most:
Georgia Southern +69 to #32
Kansas +67 to #12

Anyway, here are my rankings from 1 to 131 (LW stands for Last Week's Ranking). One thing that is new is that I have added the AP rankings in a separate column, so you can see how my rankings compare to the AP Poll. Notice how my rankings are more closely aligned with the AP Poll.
