Week 6 Predictions
I had a pretty good week last week. I finished 46-8, or 85.2%! Overall, I am 272-68, clinging at exactly 80%. My goal every year is to finish at 80% or above for the year, but I believe the best I have ever done is between 76-78%. On with this week's picks!
Ark St over Ga Southern- Ark St is a good team, perhaps best in the Sun Belt. GSU is not...
Louisville over NC State- should be a good, close game
Memphis over UConn- easy pick here
Boise St over BYU- but BYU could pull the upset, as Boise St is not their usual self; then again, neither is BYU
UGA over Vandy- could be a let down game, and UGA almost always struggles at Vandy, but I think they'll remember last year's loss and remain focused
Clemson over Wake Forest- though Wake could keep it close for 3 quarters; not enough depth
Oklahoma over Iowa St- Okie is one of the best teams in the nation; Iowa St is one of the best teams in Ames, Iowa
Penn State over Northwestern- I think PSU will stumble sometime this year, but not this week
Auburn over Ole Miss- unless Auburn is caught looking ahead
Temple over ECU- East Carolina is not a good team; they only win on Sundays
Toledo over E Mich- Eastern Michigan will keep it close...for a while
Iowa over Illinois- The Illini are improved, but not enough
Texas Tech over Kansas- if you can't beat Kansas, who can you beat?
Virginia over Duke- just going with a gut feeling here
Pitt over Syracuse- Pitt may have finally figured things out
Ohio over C Mich- Ohio is the class of the MAC West
Miami, Oh over Bowling Green- BGSU is one of the worst teams in the nation
La-Monroe over Texas St- The Warhawks have a chance for a special season
Mid Tenn over FIU- Basically just going with the home team here...
TCU over W Virginia- The Horned Frogs' defense is just too strong for the Mountaineers
Miami, Fla over FSU- While the Seminoles won last week, I'm not convinced they are ready for a big game like this.
Notre Dame over UNC- If the Tar Heels aren't careful, this season could spiral out of control
Florida over LSU- neither team has an offense, but Florida's at home, so...
Purdue over Minnesota- another evenly matched contest- go with the home team
App St over New Mexico St- while NMSU is improved, App St is just too strong for them
Akron over Ball St- I like this Akron team; they won't win their division, but could make a bowl
Navy over Air Force- the Falcons are really struggling this year; the Middies are not
N Illinois over Kent St- Northern Illinois is the much better team
Buffalo over W Mich- I think these teams are evenly matched- go with the home team
Indiana over Charleston Southern- FBS SHOULD beat FCS...
Ohio St over Maryland- third string QB for Maryland can't overcome the Buckeyes
USC over Oregon St- USC has been unimpressive; Oregon St is just bad...
Tulane over Tulsa- no idea; go with the home team
S Carolina over Arkansas- Every other game the Gamecocks look pretty good; this is that other week
La Tech over UAB- La Tech is a good team, UAB is still trying to find itself after 2 years off
Colo St over Utah St- I really like this USU team, but Colo St has a great offense
Idaho over Louisiana- the Vandals take the win at home
Marshall over Charlotte- Charlotte will struggle to win any games this year
ODU over FAU- neither team is very good- go with the home team
Army over Rice- the option offense will grind down the Owls' defense, unless Army turns the ball over 3-5 times...
Ga St over Coastal Carolina- CC is one of the few teams worse than the Panthers
Houston over SMU- tough call here- so I went with the home Cougars
Texas over Kansas St- 2 evenly matched teams; home team prevails
UTSA over S Miss- UTSA stays undefeated for one more week
Alabama over Texas A&M- don't be surprised if the Aggies keep it close...through the 1st quarter
Va Tech over Boston College- should be a rout
Michigan over Mich St- Wolverines better be careful as the Spartans will bring their "A" game
Kentucky over Missouri- The Tigers are the worst team in the SEC
Fresno St over San Jose St- Fresno is an improved team this year
Nebraska over Wisconsin- Upset Special- just a gut feeling
Wash St over Oregon- Cougars overcome the Ducks, who have to start their backup QB
UCF over Cincinnati- Golden Knight continue their roll
WKU over UTEP- the Hilltoppers easily dispatch the Miners; welcome back Mike Price!
Colorado over Arizona- home team prevails
Utah over Stanford- this is a big game for both teams; Stanford needs a win to stay alive in the PAC 12 race, and Utah needs to win to establish themselves as the front-runner for the division crown.
Hawaii over Nevada- I haven't seen anything out of the Wolfpack to suggest they might win this game, though Hawaii generally struggles on the mainland.
Washington over Cal- easy pick, with the Huskies playing at home
San Diego St over UNLV- Aztecs continue to roll
There you have it! Until next time, may your day and your loved ones be blessed!
