Week 6 Predictions

Last week was a crazy week! We had upsets and near upsets galore, and that played havoc with my picks.  Especially since I picked the wrong upsets!  Last week, I was 42-16, or 72.4%.  Overall, through 6 weeks, I'm 314-84, for a respectable 78.9%.  Chances are, I won't be able to get back up to 80%, but I'm sure going to try!  Here are my picks for this week:

Troy over S Alabama- Troy has upset LSU, and their only loss is to Boise St the opening weekend.  S Alabama is only 1-4, their lone win over FCS Alabama A&M.

Louisiana over Texas St.- Texas St's lone win is over an FCS foe, and UL is at home.

Clemson over Syracuse- Clemson is one of the best teams, if not THE best; Syracuse is not.  Not even close.
Wash St over Cal- The Cougars have established themselves as one of the best teams in the PAC12.  Cal has faded since it reached conference play.

TCU over Kansas St- The Horned Frogs better be on upset alert, as the Wildcats are certainly capable of pulling off the win, but I think TCU will be ready on the road.
Michigan over Indiana- Indiana is capable of pulling the upset at home.  A lot will depend on if the Michigan offense shows up.  Or if they are suffering from a hangover after last week's defeat vs. Mich St at home.
NC State over Pitt- The Panthers look terrible; the Wolfpack look awesome.  Easy pick here.
Texas Tech over W Va- This game could go either way, but I think Tech's defense plays just well enough to pull out the win on the road.
FSU over Duke- Another tough call.  Will FSU be able to overcome the disappointment of last week's loss to Miami?  Or to a season gone horribly awry?  Duke could pull the upset, especially at home...
Illinois over Rutgers- Rutgers is terrible.  "Nuff said.
Army over E Mich- Yet another game that could go either way, but I'm going with the home team.
Miss St over BYU- The Cougars' struggles continue.  The Bulldogs defense is good enough to shut down the BYU offense, which has not scored more than 24 points in any game this year, and that was in a loss to Utah St (24-40).
Tennessee over S Carolina- Going with the home team, and the one circling the wagons.
Iowa St over Kansas- Can ISU avoid a let down?  Against the Jayhawks, yes.  Any other team? Who knows...
Temple over UConn- Neither of these teams are any good, but Temple at least has potential.
Louisville over Boston College- Lamar Jackson puts up big numbers as the Cardinals win big.
Air Force over UNLV- I'm not overly confident in this pick.
Marshall over ODU- The Thundering Herd is flying a little under the radar this year, but I believe this is a pretty good team, maybe good enough to win Conference USA.  An intriguing non-conference matchup this late in the season.
Wisconsin over Purdue- This will be the Badgers last "test" until they play Iowa Nov 4 and Michigan Nov 11, and neither of those may be tests.
Auburn over LSU- Yes, LSU got the win last week against Florida, but I'm not convinced they've turned anything around.  Auburn's offense is getting cranked up, and their defense is nasty.
Miami over Ga Tech- I'm not convinced the Canes will win this, but Richt certainly knows how to beat Tech.
Texas over Oklahoma- I'm betting on the Sooners still reeling after their loss against Iowa St, and on Texas' improvement since their early losses.  I may be a little crazy here...
Okla St over Baylor- The Cowboys pull away late.
Virginia over UNC- The Cavaliers are much improved, and UNC is in free fall.  Can the Tar Heels stop the bleeding and revive their season? A win here would go a long way toward a bowl berth.
Maryland over Northwestern- Another game that could go either way, so I'm going with the home team.
Ole Miss over Vandy- The Rebels have not been impressive, but they are at home.  And it IS Vandy.
W Mich over Akron- This should be a good game, and I believe Akron will keep it close, but the Broncos will pull it out at home.  Then again, I never seem to get these MAC games right...
Miami over Kent St- Another MAC game that I'll probably be wrong on.
N Illinois over Buffalo- The Huskies are always near the top of the conference.  The Bulls never are.
Ohio over Bowling Green- Can the Falcons make it 2 wins in a row? Nah!
Toledo over C Mich- Toledo is the best team in the MAC, but the Chippewas will keep it close.
Navy over Memphis- Two good teams going at it, but Navy will prevail by keeping the ball away from the Tiger offense.
Houston over Tulsa- Tulsa is a mess.  After a 10-3 season last year, I expected better.
Colorado over Oregon St- I keep getting burned by the Buffalos, but surely they can beat the Beavers. Can't they?
WKU over Charlotte- If the Hilltoppers can't beat the worst team in the FBS...
La-Monroe over Ga St- I'm tempted to go with the Panthers, but I'm sticking with the home team.
App St over Idaho- The Mountaineers will start to assert themselves now that conference play has arrived.
NM St over Ga Southern- I REALLY want to go with the Eagles here, but just can't pull the trigger.
UAB over Mid Tenn- Going with my heart (and the home team) over my head on this pick.
UCF over ECU- This one will be over by halftime.  Maybe even the first quarter.
N Texas over UTSA- I got burned by the Roadrunners last week.  Not falling for that again!
S Miss over UTEP- The Miners have played several teams close, and could pull off the upset here, but I think the Golden Eagles win at home.
Tulane over FIU- Two teams with even records, but Tulane has simply looked better.  Could go either way.
Florida over Texas A&M- The Gators get back on track, even with the stupid-looking uniforms.
Arkansas St over Coastal Carolina- Over by the end of the 1st quarter.
Alabama over Arkansas- Can the Razorbacks even keep it close? I doubt it.
Georgia over Missouri- If Georgia plays like it has the last 3 weeks, this should be an easy victory.  However, I'm worried about the pass defense, especially if they fail to get any pressure on the Mizzou QB.  If they let Missouri stay close late in the game...
Ohio St over Nebraska- The Buckeyes win easily.
USF over Cincinnati- This week seems to be following a trend: good, close contests early in the day, blowouts in the evening.  This will be another blowout.
USC over Utah- Still not sure what to make of either of these teams.  Both have been inconsistent.
Mich St over Minnesota- The Spartans should win relatively easily, unless they're still celebrating last week's win over the Wolverines.  If they are, the Golden Gophers could take them down.
Arizona over UCLA- The PAC12 South is anyone's to win.  Arizona has looked better of late.
Fresno St over New Mexico- Neither of these teams are any good, so this is just a guess.
Colo St over Nevada- The Rams keep rolling.
San Diego St over Boise St- The Broncos are the only decent team remaining standing between the Aztecs and an undefeated regular season.
Washington over Ariz St- The Huskies go on the road and take care of business, but if they let the Sun Devils hang around until the 4th quarter, all bets are off!
Stanford over Oregon- The Cardinal appear to have righted the ship after their early losses.  The Ducks have not.
Hawaii over San Jose St- Hawaii rarely loses on the Island.

There you have it!  Until next time, may your day and your loved ones be blessed!
