Week 12 Predictions
It's been a rough few weeks here at my prediction center. Last week I was 43-17, or 71.7%. Overall, that drops me to 514-177, or 74.4%. It's getting tougher and tougher to get to that 75% mark. However, with so many top teams playing "cupcakes" this week, I'm hoping my percentage will improve. Here are this week's picks:
Tuesday Games (already played)
C Mich over Kent St (they won)
Ohio over Akron (they lost!)
Wednesday Games
Miami over E Mich- The Redhawks have a chance to qualify for a bowl for the 2nd straight year if they can win this game and at Ball St next Tuesday. I believe they will.
N Illinois over W Mich- These are 2 good MAC teams with much left to play for, but I'm going with the Huskies at home.
Toledo over Bowling Green- The Rockets' shocking loss last week will have no lingering effects. They'll crush the Falcons easily.
Thursday Games
Buffalo over Ball State- How the Cardinals beat UAB I'll never know. Of course, I have no idea how Buffalo beat FAU, either...
USF over Tulsa- The Bulls continue their march toward their showdown with UCF.
Friday Games
WKU over Mid Tenn- Two 5-5 teams go at it, vying for bowl eligibility. The Hilltoppers have the better talent to win on the road.
UNLV over New Mexico- The Rebels get the win on the road, keeping alive their hopes for a division title or a bowl game.
Saturday Games
Cincinnati over ECU- Both of these teams are terrible, but the Bearcats a little less so.
FSU over Delaware St- The Seminoles beat a terrible FCS team easily.
Indiana over Rutgers- The Hoosiers get their 2nd Big10 win at home over the Scarlet Knights.
Miami over Virginia- The Hurricanes continue their winning streak against a tough Cavalier team.
UCF over Temple- The Knights will have their hands full with the Owls, but win a tough one on the road.
W Virginia over Texas- I may have been undervaluing the Mountaineers all season.
Alabama over Mercer- The Tide destroy an FCS team before meeting Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
Miss St over Arkansas- The Bulldogs will run over, through, and around the Razorbacks.
Auburn over La-Monroe- The Tigers take care of a mediocre Sun Belt team.
Memphis over SMU- The Tigers will struggle early to put the Mustangs away, but will pull away in the 2nd half.
Northwestern over Minnesota- The Wildcats face a good Minnesota team at home, but their defense will get them the win.
TCU over Texas Tech- The Red Raiders have no defense, and TCU gets one step closer to the conference title game.
Wisconsin over Michigan- The Badgers had no problem with Iowa last week, and while Michigan may have a better defense, its offense will struggle to score on the Wisconsin defense.
Clemson over The Citadel- The Tigers win in a rout and get to play lots of backups.
Va Tech over Pitt- The Hokies rebound at home after their loss to Ga Tech; Pitt loses its chance at a bowl game.
ODU over Rice- The Monarchs continue Rice's miserable season.
Wyoming over Fresno St- The Bulldogs begin their difficult ending to their season on the road against the Cowboys with a loss.
Iowa St over Baylor- The Cyclones are ripe for an upset, but the Bears will fall short again.
UNC over W Carolina- The Tar Heels should have little problems with a decent FCS team.
Ark St over Texas St- The Red Wolves were one of the favorites to win the SBC, but stumbled last week against S Alabama, thereby opening the door for others. They won't stumble this week at home against a terrible Bobcat team.
S Miss over Charlotte- The Golden Eagles handle the 49ers easily.
BYU over UMass- Two disappointing teams battle it out- go with the home team.
La Tech over UTEP- The Bulldogs have been a disappointment this year, as I expected them to challenge for the conference championship. This may be the Miners' best chance to avoid a winless season.
Utah St over Hawaii- The Rainbow Warriors generally struggle on the mainland; The Aggies qualify for a bowl with the win.
Ga Southern over S Alabama- The Eagles get their first win at home.
Ariz St over Oregon St- The Su Devils go on the road to take down a terrible Beaver team playing out a lost season.
Ga Tech over Duke- The Yellow Jackets ruin the chance for a bowl game for the Blue Devils. No problem; basketball season has started!
Georgia over Kentucky- The Bulldogs bounce back, but the game will be closer than Vegas thinks.
Louisville over Syracuse- The Orange continue their late season collapse, as they can't keep up with Lamar Jackson and the Cardinal offense.
Ohio St over Illinois- Urban Meyer's team does what they do best: destroy inferior teams.
Colo St over San Jose St- The Rams rebound from 3 straight losses to finish their season on a high note, but their division championship hopes are over.
Iowa over Purdue- The Boilermakers have played nearly everyone close, and they'll do so again this week, but in the end, the Hawkeyes will prevail.
Oklahoma over Kansas- Seriously? This may be close for about 5 minutes...
Okla St over Kansas St- With their win over Iowa St last weekend, the Cowboys still have a lot to play for.
Notre Dame over Navy- The Midshipmen just aren't as good as usual this year, and the Irish are much better than they were last year.
Florida over UAB- Expect this to be close, but the Gators will have enough pride (and talent) not to lose to a CUSA team.
Mich St over Maryland- The Spartans will end any hope the Terrapins had of a bowl berth.
Penn St over Nebraska- The Nittany Lions will dominate a Cornhusker team just playing out the string.
S Carolina over Wofford- The Gamecocks better not be too cocky (pun intended!) as this is a very good FCS team.
Houston over Tulane- The Cougars should win this, but I have a sneaking suspicion the Green Wave may pull the upset.
Louisiana over New Mexico State- No idea; 2 teams with identical records; go with the home team.
Idaho over Coastal Carolina- The Chanticleers make a long trip and come home empty handed.
N Texas over Army- This is a very good Army team, but the Mean Green win at home.
Boston College over UConn- The Eagles are too strong for the Huskies and earn bowl eligibility.
FAU over FIU- This is a big game in CUSA with the winner earning the inside track for a division title.
Texas A&M over Ole Miss- The Aggies change their annual November collapse narrative with a narrow win over the Rebels.
LSU over Tennessee- The Bayou Bengals continue Tennessee's miserable season, though the Volunteers may play them close for a half or so.
Marshall over UTSA-The Thundering Herd should beat the Roadrunners easily in an important (for Marshall!) CUSA game.
Arizona over Oregon- The Wildcats go on the road for a victory over the Ducks. Like Oregon State, Oregon has only the Civil War to play for.
Wake Forest over NC St- The Demon Deacons continue their late season surge with a victory over a Wolfpack team with nothing left to play for.
Missouri over Vandy- The Tigers' offense will light up a mediocre Vandy defense.
Stanford over Cal- The "Big Game" has big implications for the Cardinals.
USC over UCLA- The Bruins have largely been a disappointment, but could salvage their season by beating the Trojans, and by doing so, destroy what little hope the PAC12 has of a playoff berth.
Boise St over Air Force- The Broncos will clinch the division with this win.
Washington over Utah- The Huskies win at home as the PAC12 has shown it's tough to win a conference game on the road.
San Diego St over Nevada- The Aztecs win easily over a Wolfpack team with little left to play for.
That's it for this week. Until next time, may your day and your loved ones be blessed!
