Paul's Pick- National Championship Game

Welcome Back!

After a long season, there is only 1 game left!  As I'm sure someone has told you, #1 Alabama plays #2 Clemson for the National Championship tonight in Santa Clara, California, at 8:15 pm.  These 2 teams have been head and shoulders above everyone else all year long.  Alabama has only been challenged once (Georgia in the SECCG), and Clemson twice (Texas A&M and Syracuse).  This game has seemed inevitable since early in the season.

Both teams dominated in their bowl games, but each also looked vulnerable at times.  The games were very different.  Clemson had a slow start, but poured it on in the 2nd quarter, then coasted to the end.  Alabama jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first 17 minutes, then basically allowed 2 points for every 1 they scored (17-34) to cruise to its win.

There are other sites where you can get statistical analysis, computer predictions, etc.  On this site, you only get my opinion.  I think the difference is going to be depth.  Alabama has depth at every position on the field.  While Clemson has plenty of depth in most positions, they are rather thin at QB.  If Trevor Lawrence gets hurt, there is a big drop off to #2.  If Tua Tagavialoa gets hurt, Jalen Hurts is ready to step in.

What may decide the game is special teams.  If it comes down to the kicking game, Clemson has the advantage.  But I don't think it will come to that.  Alabama wins.

That's it for now.  On Tuesday, look for my final Power Rankings.  Don't forget to follow this blog and leave a comment, and please share with your friends.  Until next time, may you and your loved ones be blessed!
