Power Rankings 10/29/24
Welcome Back!
Before I present my Power Rankings, this week continues those maddening mid-week games. Here are my picks for tonight's games.
Tuesday, October 29
New Mexico State @ FIU- This is the 1st time the teams will play in Miami, as the Aggies lead 2-1 in games played in Las Cruces. Each team is 1-3 in CUSA, and each has a 1-score loss to Liberty, a loss to Sam Houston, and a 1-score win over La Tech. Who knows... the Panthers win at home...I guess...
Louisiana @ Texas State- Before the season started, it was expected that this would be a battle for 1st place in the SBC West, and in a sense it is, but the expected roles are reversed. It is the Ragin' Cajuns that are 3-0 in the conference, and the Bobcats being the chasers at 3-1. TSU has never beaten UL in 10 tries, and only last year did they lose by less than 10 points (34-30 in Lafayette). Louisiana's only loss was by 8 to Tulane at home. Both teams were idle last week, so I'm rolling with the Ragin' Cajuns to continue their dominance in the series.
La Tech @ Sam Houston- The Bulldogs lead this series 2-1-1, with the 6-6 tie in 1926, and wins in 1942 and 1999, but the Bearkats won 42-27 last year. All games before this one have been played in Ruston, so this is LT's 1st trip to Huntsville. SHS wins easily.
Power Rankings
I had a lot of movement in the PR again this week, as we are starting to see some wins and losses pile up. I expect the rankings to be pretty volatile the rest of the way as the point differentials are not as large as they were at the start of the season.
The preseason points are long gone, so that means the rankings are based solely on the results of this season.
Usually, I talk about what has changed, and who has moved the most, but I've been so busy just trying to keep up with stats and predictions that I just haven't been able to put the time in to add a narrative. I hope you'll forgive me.
Until next time, may you and your loved ones be blessed!
