Welcome Back!
Before I begin, there are 3 games today. Last week I was 1-1 on the Tuesday games. Let's see if I can do better this week.
Tuesday, November 18
Akron @ Bowling Green- The Falcons have a 21-10 lead in the series, winning the last 3, including 27-20 last year, but Akron's last win, in 2021, was in Bowling Green. BGSU is 3-7/1-5 and on a 4-game losing streak. The Zips are only slightly better, as they are 4-7/3-4 and winners of 2 of their last 3 with the loss last week in OT to Kent State. Akron is 1-4 on the road this season while the Falcons are 3-2 at home, losing their last 2 to CMU and Buffalo. Flip a coin. Akron wins.
UMass @ Ohio- The Bobcats are 4-0 versus the Minutemen, winning in 2012, 2013, 2017, and 2018. Ohio is 6-4/4-2 but coming off a loss at WMU last week. UMass is 0-10/0-6, and losing by an average of 27.1 ppg. Bobcats win big.
Western Michigan @ Northern Illinois- The Broncos hold a 27-23 lead in this series, but the Huskies have won the last 3, including 42-28 last year, and 7 of the last 8 played in DeKalb. NIU is 3-7/2-4 and 2-2 at home, as they've won 2 of their last 3 overall. WMU is 6-4/5-1, winning their last 2 and 6 of their last 7, but are only 1-3 on the road (losses to 2 Big Ten teams). This seems to be WMU's year, so I'm riding the Broncos in this contest.
Power Rankings
All of the top 14 have changed except for #1. And everyone from 64-134 has moved. We had only 1 team move 20+ spots, with 126 teams staying within 9 spots of where they were last week.
Here is how far the teams moved:
Less than 10 spots- 126 teams (33 moved 0 or 1 spot) +16 from last week
10-19 spots- 9 (-12)
20-29 spots- 1 (-4)
30-39 spots- 0 (same)
The biggest mover up was Clemson at +19, and down was Southern Miss at -24.
Here is how many teams each conference has in the top 35:
SEC- 10
Big Ten- 9 (+1 from last week)
ACC- 5 (-1)
Big 12- 6
American- 3
SBC- 1
Ind- 1
If the Playoff started tomorrow, here is who would make it based on my rankings. Keep in mind the 5 highest ranked conference champions are automatically in, and I am assuming that the highest ranked team of each conference would be the champion. These would be the seedings:
1. Indiana
2. Ohio St
3. Texas A&M
4. Texas Tech
5. Georgia
6. Oregon
7. Ole Miss
8. Utah
9. Alabama
10. Notre Dame
11. USF
12. Miami
I'm curious as to how this will compare to the CFP reveal tonight.
Remember, I am less interested in being correct now than I am in being correct at the end of the season, and I'm usually very close at the end of the season.
Anyway, here are my new rankings from 1 to 136:
