Paul's Picks 2026- Week 3
Welcome Back!
Last week, I was better than usual again at 73-13, a winning percentage of 84.9%! Overall, I am 160-25, or 86.5%, a drop of 1.4% from the week before. There is no way I will sustain that for the year, but maybe I can stay above 75% this year. There are 75 games in total this week, 11 less than last week, so once again, it took me a while. Fortunately, there are far fewer FCS games, though that will likely bring down my percentage.
So... on with the picks!
Thursday, September 17
Syracuse @ Pittsburgh- The Panthers have a 45-32-3 lead in the series, winning the last 2, and 20 of the last 24 (since 2002) as these teams have played yearly since 1955, when they restarted after a 25-year hiatus. They actually first met in 1916, and played 10 times between then and 1930 (6-2-2 in favor of Pitt). The Orange are 1-1 on the young season, but 0-1 in the ACC after the loss to Cal last weekend at home. The Panthers had a tough test against UCF last week, but should handle Syracuse in the 3rd of 4 straight home games to start the season. Pitt wins.
Friday, September 18
Miami, Fl@ Wake Forest- The Hurricanes lead the series 9-3, winning the last 8 (since 1969), and all 3 that have been played in Winston-Salem. The Canes have looked dominant early this season, the Demon Deacons less so, but WF did survive a 2 OT affair at Purdue. Miami wins, but don't be surprised in the Deacons hang around for a bit.
Houston @ Texas Tech- The Cougars hold a narrow 18-17-1 lead over the Red Raiders, but TT has won the last 7 (since 2010), and 12 of the last 13 (since 1991). These teams played almost annually from 1951 to 1959 (skipping 1957), and then again as co-members of the Southwest Conference from 1976-1995. UH hasn't won in Lubbock since 1990, and that streak is likely to be extended. Red Raiders win a close one.
Portland State @ Oregon- The Ducks are 6-0 against the Vikings, and have never scored fewer than 41 points, or allowed more than 16. UO wins big.
Saturday, September 19
Coastal Carolina @ Delaware- The Chanticleers and Fightin' Blue Hens will be meeting for the 1st time, and both teams played well against their respective P4 opponents in the 1st 2 weeks. I like CCU in this one.
Georgia @ Arkansas- The Bulldogs have a 12-4 advantage in this series, winning the last 3 (since 2014) and 9 of the last 10 (since 2000). The Razorbacks have wins in the 1969 Sugar Bowl, the 1976 Cotton Bowl, 1993 in Athens, and 2010, also in Athens, so the Hogs have never beaten UGA in the state of Arkansas. The Dawgs own victories in the 1987 Liberty Bowl, the 1991 Independence Bowl, and in the 2002 SEC Championship Game among their 12 wins. UA was blown out by Utah last week, so I'm not really sure how big of a test this is, but it is UGA's 1st game against a P4 opponent, and an SEC game to boot. Dawgs win, but they better not be overconfident.
Kent State @ Ohio State- The Buckeyes are 3-0 against the Golden Flashes, with a combined score of 165-20. The 3 games occurred in 2002, 2007, and 2014, and like this one, have all taken place in Columbus. OSU wins big.
Buffalo @ Penn State- The Nittany Lions lead the series 3-1, but Buffalo's one win came in the first matchup, in 1900. The Bulls are 1-1 with a loss at FIU. PSU wins big.
Tulane @ Kansas State- The Green Wave actually lead the series 2-1, winning in 1988 in New Orleans and in 2022 in Manhattan, but the Wildcats won the most recent meeting, 34-27 in 2024 in New Orleans. Tulane has a loss at Duke from the opening week, while KSU is playing the 3rd of 3 consecutive home games to open the season. Wildcats move to 3-0 with a close win.
Bowling Green @ Iowa State- The Cyclones have won both previous matchups, in 1977 and 1979, and this will be the 2nd time they meet in Ames. The Falcons are 0-2 after a loss to an FCS team in Week One, and then getting routed by Nebraska last week. ISU wins.
Arizona State @ Kansas- The Sun Devils eked by the Jayhawks 35-31 in Tempe in the only prior meeting. Both teams come into this game at 1-1, with a big win over an FCS team and a loss to an SEC team. This should be a competitive Big 12 game, with the winner getting a leg up in the conference race. ASU wins.
Mercer @ Georgia Tech- The Yellow Jackets lead this series 16-1-1, winning the last 14. The Bears won the 1st contest, in 1892, and after 2 GT wins in 1893 and 1896, forged a 4-4 tie (TDs were worth 4 points at that time) in a 2nd 1896 meeting. The next 13 meetings were between 1903 and 1938, with the most recent one being in 2016, a 35-10 victory for the Jackets. GT wins to earn their 1st victoryof the 2026 season.
North Carolina @ Clemson- The Tigers have dominated this series, leading 41-19-1, winning each of the last 7 (since 2011) and 12 of the last 13 (since 1999). This includes wins in the 2015 and 2022 ACC Championship Games. But this year, the teams seem to be on opposite trajectories, with the Tar Heels ascending, and CU descending. I expect this to be a close, low scoring game. I'm going with the Tigers in Death Valley.
Akron @ Minnesota- This will be the first time the Zips and Golden Gophers ever meet, and the 1st time Minnesota defeats Akron.
North Texas @ Texas State- The Bobcats continue their tour of the state of Texas as they take on the 3rd of 4 straight teams from their home state. The Mean Green have a large 28-7-3 lead in the series, winning 7 of the last 10 (since 1986), but TSU won the most recent contest, 30-28 in the 2025 First Responder Bowl (following the 2024 season). That was the first time they had met since 1999. Incidentally, all 3 of the ties- in 1916, 1929, and 1933- were of the 0-0 variety. UNT lost to Indiana in their opener, but crushed UNLV last week. The Bobcats lost at Texas, but played UTSA close in Week 2. The Mean Green wins a close one.
Eastern Michigan @ Wisconsin- The Badgers have won all 3 previous contests with the Eagles, allowing a total of 16 points with 1 shutout. All of these occurred between 1991 and 2021. Wisconsin wins big.
NC State @ Vanderbilt- These teams have met 3 times before, but never in Raleigh. Vandy has wins in 1946 and in the 2012 Music City Bowl, both in Nashville, while the Wolfpack has a win in the 2016 Independence Bowl. The Commodores are off to a 2-0 start, but are turning to 5-star freshman Jared Curtis for an offensive spark. NC State lost to UVA in their only FBS game, and it wasn't close. The Dores will sink the Wolfpack. Vandy wins.
Wyoming at Central Michigan- The Cowboys lead this brief series 2-1, winning in 2000 in Laramie and in the 2017 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The Chippewas have a win in 2002 in Mount Pleasant. Both teams are 1-1 with both of their wins over FCS teams. Wyoming wins to make CMU 0-2 against MWC teams this fall.
Maine @ Boston College- The Eagles are 7-3 against the Black Bears, losing the 1st 3 in 1913, 1914, and 1915, but winning all the rest, beginning with 1929 and 1967, then 5 more contests from 2008-2022. BC wins big.
Southern Illinois @ Illinois- The Fighting Illinis have won all 4 meetings with the Salukis, in 1985, 1990, 2010, and 2013, and they'll win this one as well.
Temple @ Toledo- The Rockets lead this series 8-3, winning 6 of the last 7 (since 1998), including the most recent matchup in the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl. Both teams are 1-1, with Toledo losing 30-20 to Michigan State, and Temple losing to Penn State by a score of 27-9. This looks like an even matchup, and the Owls have won 2 of the 5 played in the Glass Bowl. Flip a coin, but I'm going with the home team. Toledo wins a close one.
Kentucky @ Texas A&M- The Aggies lead this long and storied rivalry 2-1, winning in 1953 in Lexington and in 2018 in College Station, while the Wildcats won their 1st meeting in 1952 in College Station. All 3 games have been close, with the largest margin of victory being 6 points, and the total MOV equaling 10 points. I'll be surprised if this game is that close, as UK was blown out in the 2nd half by Alabama, and TAMU did the same to Arizona State. Aggies tame the Wildcats.
FSU @ Alabama- The Crimson Tide hold a 3-2-1 advantage over the Seminoles, with wins in 1965, 1974, and in 2017, while the Noles have wins in 2007 (since vacated) and 31-17 in last season's opener. The tie was 37-37 in 1967 in Birmingham. The Tide is 2-0 in Tuscaloosa, and will make it 3-0 with a revenge win over FSU.
USC @ Rutgers- This is yet another historic conference rivalry, with the Trojans downing the Scarlet Knights 42-20 in their only meeting in 2024 in LA. The Men of Troy destroy the Knights.
SMU @ Louisville- This is a must win game for the Cardinals if they want to make the CFP, as they already have a loss, and will probably need to win the ACC. While one loss won't eliminate them from the conference race, they don't need to be facing an uphill battle, especially with the Mustangs holding the tiebreaker advantage (if they win). The Ponies have a 4-0 lead in the series, winning games in 1983, 1984, 2024, and 38-6 last year, as they are 2-0 in Louisville. 3 of the 4 victories were by at least 18 points, with the closest being the 34-27 win in Louisville in 2024. UL wins in a mild upset.
Utah State @ Utah- The Utes have dominated this series, leading 80-29-4, winning the last 3 (since 2013), and 15 of the last 16 (since 1998). The Aggies have not won in Salt Lake City since 1997, and have lost 8 in a row there. USU only lost to Washington by 2 after losing to an FCS team by 12, but Utah has looked impressive in its 2 wins. The Utes take the first leg on their journey to claim the Beehive Boot, which goes to the best team in Utah.
UTEP @ Michigan- The Miners and Wolverines are meeting for the 1st time, but each has played Oklahoma, with vastly different results. UM wins big.
Miami, Oh @ Cincinnati- The Battle for the Bell began in 1888 (with a 0-0 tie), and is one of the most even series in all of CFB, as the Bearcats lead 61-60-7, having won the most recent matchup in 2024 to take that lead. The Bearcats have also won 17 of the last 18 (since 2006), but the Redhawks won the last time this game was played in Nippert Stadium. Cincy continues their recent dominance and pulls out the win and claims the Victory Bell.
Wagner @ California- The Golden Bears will crush the Seahawks in this 1st time meeting.
Duquesne @ Washington State- The Cougars will crush the Dukes in this 1st time meeting.
Stonehill @ UMass- The Minutemen will crush... nah, I can't say it again, but UMass will defeat the Skyhawks to run their record to 3-0 for the 1st time since 2007, when they were still in the FCS ranks.
WKU @ Indiana- Good grief! What a brutal opening stretch for the Hilltoppers! The Hoosiers have won all 5 meetings with WKU (between 2008-2022), and are 3-0 in Bloomington, but the Hilltoppers lost the last 3 by 3 points (2015), 2 points (2021), and then 3 points again (2022). Something tells me it won't be that close. IU wins big.
Northern Iowa @ Iowa- The Panthers defeated Iowa 11-5 in 1898, but the Hawkeyes have won the next 17 contests, from 1899 to 2018 (with an 81-year interruption between 1914 and 1995). Iowa makes it 18 in a row.
Stanford @ Duke- The Cardinal have won 3 of 4 contests with the Blu Devils, winning the last 3 after losing the 1st meeting in 1971, and they are 2-0 in Durham (1972 and 2011). The teams last played in 2012. Duke is off to a good start, and is looking to repeat as ACC champion, and that quest starts in Wallace-Wade Stadium this weekend. Stanford was off last week after opening the season during Week Zero, but are coming off a big loss to Miami. Blue Devils win.
Ball State @ Liberty- The Flames defeated the Cardinals 27-23 in the only previous meeting in 2010 in Muncie, so BS will be looking for payback. Both teams are 1-1 with their win over an FCS team. This should be a competitive game, but I'll go with the home team in Williams Stadium. LU wins.
La Tech @ Baylor- The Bears lead this series 5-1, winning the last 3, but all 6 were played between 1981 and 1996, with LT's win coming in 1992. Both teams are 1-1, but that's the extent of their similarities. Baylor wins, and they better, because a loss to the Bulldogs could mean the beginning of the end for Bears HC Dave Aranda.
Mississippi State @ South Carolina- The Gamecocks lead the series 10-7, winning 8 of the last 9 (since 2000), including the last 5 played in Columbia. The Bulldogs won 6 of the first 8 editions of this "rivalry", but haven't won in Columbia since 1998. I think they break that streak. MSU wins in a mild upset.
SE La @ ULM- The Lions lead the series 25-12, but the Warhawks have won the last 2 (since 2010), and 5 of the last 6 (since 1982). ULM gets their 1st win of the season.
East Carolina @ ODU- The Pirates lead this series 8-3-1, winning the last 6 (since 1940), with the last 5 played between 2013 and 2024. The 1st meeting was a 0-0 tie in 1934. The Pirates are also 4-2 all-time in Norfolk. ECU is 0-2 with losses to Alabama and App State, while the Monarchs have an FCS win and a loss to Va Tech. I'm tempted to go with ODU, which would make ECU 0-2 against the Sun Belt Conference, but I think the Pirates get their 1st win.
FIU @ FAU- The Owls have won 17 of the Field 22 contests with the Panthers (1 FIU win has been vacated), including 7 of the last 8, but FIU won 38-28 last year in Miami. The Panthers have never won at Howard Schnellenberger Field in Boca Raton, with all their wins being in Miami or in Ft. Lauderdale. FIU has a win over Buffalo, and played USF tough, while FAU has a huge win over Navy and were routed by Florida. Hoot! Hoot! The Owls win a close one.
Charlotte @ Appalachian State- The Mountaineers have won all 4 times they have played the 49ers, including 34-11 last year. App State wins again.
Marshall @ Missouri State-The Bears defeated the Thundering Herd 21-20 last year in Huntington (MSU's 1st victory as an FBS team!), so now Marshall travels to Springfield to even the score as that loss was the difference in a season that fell 1 victory short of a bowl game. In essence, MSU took that slot in their 1st year at the FBS level. Both teams are 1-1, with the Bears being shut out by Texas A&M and stomping an FCS team, and the Herd being shut out by Penn State and squeaking by Middle Tennessee of CUSA. Marshall wins a close one.
Troy at Missouri- Mizzou leads the series 3-1, with the Trojans winning in 2004, the only time this game has been played in Troy. Both teams are 2-0, but the Tigers should win this one with ease.
Florida @ Auburn- I have memories of listening to this game on the radio as a kid, as it was one of the best SEC rivalries. Unfortunately, it was lost when the SEC split into divisions, and they were placed in opposite sides of the conference. Interestingly, at least when I was growing up, these teams and Georgia always played around the same time each year. First it was UF and Auburn, then UGA-UF, then UGA-Auburn, all in a 3-week span. Anyway, the Tigers hold the advantage in the series, winning 44 to the Gators' 39, with 2 ties: 7-7 in 1939, and 14-14 in 1949. The Plainsmen have won 3 of the last 4 (since 2006), but the Gators have won 9 of the last 13 (since 1995), including the 2000 SEC Championship Game, though they haven't won on The Plains since 1999. Both teams are 2-0 with new coaches, but only Auburn has been tested by a P4 team. War Eagle! Auburn wins at home.
Georgia State @ UCF- The Knights and Panthers will be meeting for the first time on the gridiron. UCF is 1-1 with a loss to Pitt and an FCS win. GSU is 2-0, with their own FCS win and a win over 2025 CUSA champion Kennesaw State. The Knights win, but I bet the Panthers hang around, maybe even into the 2nd half.
Murray State @ Oklahoma State- The Cowboys will round up the Racers and put them in the corral. OSU wins big.
UConn @ Southern Miss- If not for being so far away, the Huskies could be a perfect fit for the Sun Belt Conference, as I see them as on a pretty even level with most of the teams. Both teams were somewhat competitive against P4 teams last week, and both have quality coaches in their 1st year on campus. The Golden Eagles are hoping to avoid sliding back to 3-win seasons (or worse), and for that to happen, they need to win games like this: at home against a G6 opponent. But I believe the Huskies will pull the mild upset. UConn wins this 1st ever matchup.
UT Martin @ Memphis- The Tigers lead the Skyhawks 6-3, winning 6 of the last 7, but are only 2-1 since 2009. The other 6 meetings were between 1924 and 1932. Memphis is coming off a disappointing loss to Boise State last week, so they may be a little sluggish to start, but they should pull away for a big win.
Western Michigan @ Rice- These teams have met once before, in the 2008 Texas Bowl, with the Owls coming out on top of a 38-14 score. If the Broncos have any hope of making the CFP, they must win this game, but so much depends on if they can rebound from their opening loss to Michigan. Rice runs a triple option offense, which teams in the MAC just don't see very often, so the Owls could have the advantage there, and they need this win to have any hopes of making a bowl on their own (without help from the NCAA and their APR). WMU wins a close one.
Delaware State @ USF- The Bulls will trample the Hornets in this 1st ever meeting.
Nevada @ Middle Tennessee- The Blue Raiders eased by the Wolf Pack 14-13 last year in Reno, so now Nevada gets to try to return the favor. The Wolf Pack looked like an improved team after routing CUSA favorite WKU in Week One, but laid an egg last week in losing to FCS Montana State. MTSU beat their FCS opponent, but lost to Marshall by 2 on the road. This game could go either way, so I'll stick with the home team. Blue Raiders win, but I'm not overly confident in that prognostication.
Ohio @ South Alabama- The Bobcats took care of the Jaguars 27-20 in the only prior meeting in Athens, Oh, so this is the return trip. Both teams are 1-1, with Ohio beating Jax State in 4 OTs and being routed by Nebraska. SA has an FCS win and a 4-point loss to Tulane. This is another contest between 2 teams that seem relatively even, at least at this point of the season, so a coin flip would probably give you as good a pick as I will. Jaguars win at home.
Georgia Southern @ Jacksonville State- I have a feeling that I'm going to get about half of these G6 vs G6 games wrong, as so many of these games feature teams that are very similar. The Eagles have won 6 of the 7 games against the Gamecocks, losing the 1st in 1934 before winning the others in 1939, 1992,1998, 1999, 2002, and 41-34 last year. This will be only the 2nd time they will meet in Jacksonville, but it won't matter. The Eagles win this bird fight.
Nicholls @ Sam Houston- The Bearkats have a 22-12-1 lead in this series, winning 13 of the last 14 (since 2005) against the Colonels. SHS wins to gain their 1st victory of the young season.
North Dakota @ Nebraska- The Fighting Hawks are no pushover, but the Cornhuskers have handled them twice before, in 1961 and in 2022, and they'll do so again. NU wins.
Eastern Washington @ Washington- The Huskies haven't looked so hot early this season, but they've defeated the Eagles 3 times previously, and I don't see any reason that will change. UW wins.
Michigan State @ Notre Dame- The Fighting Irish lead this series 49-29-1, but 2 of those wins, in 2012 and 2013, have been vacated. The Spartans dis win the last time this game was played in South Bend, in 2016, but they last played in 2017, so it's been a bit. Both teams are 2-0, with MSU getting by 2 MAC teams, and the Irish routing Wisconsin and Rice by a combined score of 93-13. I guess this qualifies as ND's toughest test so far, and it may be their toughest until they travel to BYU on Oct 17. Irish win, probably by 14 or more, to take home the Megaphone Trophy.
LSU @ Ole Miss- This is one of the most highly anticipated games of the season, at least for sportswriters. I'm not sure the rest of us care that much, but we'll watch, if only to see how it plays out. These old rivals have been playing since 1894, and it has come to be known as the Magnolia Bowl. It even has it's own trophy with the catchy name of The Magnolia Bowl Trophy! Anyway, these teams played a bunch of times between 1894 and 1921, then started playing almost annually in 1926, skipping a year here and there until WWII ended, whereupon they've played every year since 1945. They even played twice in the 1959 season, with the 2nd coming in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1960, with the Rebels winning 21-0 as revenge for losing 7-3 to Billy Cannon's heroics on Halloween Night. The 3 wins from 2012 through 2014, 2 by LSU and one by Ole Miss, were all vacated, leaving LSU with a 64-43-4 lead in the series, but the Rebels have won 3 of the last 5, all in Oxford, including 24-19 last season. The Bayou Bengals have outscored Clemson and La Tech by a combined 96-24, while Ole Miss eked by Louisville and stomped Charlotte. My heart says Ole Miss will win, especially at home, but my brain says, "Don't listen to that fool!" So I'll go with my gut and pick LSU in a close one.
BYU @ Colorado State- The Cougars lead this series 39-27-3, winning the last 7 (since 2004), and the last 4 played in Fort Collins. The Rams are 2-0 and look much improved- they already have as many wins in new HC Jim Mora's 1st 2 games as they had all last season. But BYU is their toughest opponent yet, and I think the Cougars are going to win the Big 12. BYU wins.
New Mexico @ Oklahoma- The Sooners have shut out the Lobos twice, winning 47-0 and 25-0, bt that was in 1930 and 1935, respectively. The only real danger for OU is letting Michigan beat them twice, last game and this game. Having said that, UNM is a quality team, as they are currently riding an 8 game regular season winning streak (bowl loss by 3 to Minnesota in OT). Sooners win, but I expect it to be close for a majority of the game, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Lobos pull the upset.
West Virginia @ Virginia- The Cavaliers have a skinny 12-10-1 lead in the series, winning the last 3, including the most recent matchup in the 2002 Continental Tire Bowl. The Mountaineers may be improved from last year's 4-8 team, but UVA has one of the best (and oldest) teams in the ACC. Wahoos win.
Colorado @ Northwestern- The Wildcats are the only team that has not played at least 2 games, as they got their bye week out of the way early. Each team has 1 win against the other, with NU winning 35-14 in Evanston in 1951, and the Buffaloes winning 55-7 in 1978 in Boulder. That's a long time to wait for a return game! The Buffs may be on the going up side of HC Deion Sanders' yo-yo tenure, but we don't know much about NW's trajectory for this season, as their only game was an FCS opponent. CU wins.
Virginia Tech @ Maryland- The Terrapins have a 17-15 lead in this series, thanks to winning the last 2, in 2013, and in the 2021 Pinstripe Bowl. Both teams are 2-0, with 2 wins over FCS teams and 2 wins over G6 teams. This is a game both teams need to win to ensure a better chance at reaching a bowl after losing seasons last year. Fear the Turtle! The Terps outlast the Hokies.
Kennesaw State @ Tennessee- The Volunteers will crush the Owls in this 1st time meeting, as this is KSU's 3rd P4 foe in the last 16 games.
UTSA @ Texas- The Roadrunners continue their tour of Texas, having already defeated UT-Rio Grande Valley and Texas State, but they've never defeated the Horns, losing in 2022 and 2024 (guess they only play in even numbered years...) by a combined 97-27. a 49-14 Longhorns victory sounds about right.
Arkansas State @ TCU- These teams have actually met twice, with the Horned Frogs winning by 3 in 1999 and by 49 in the year 2000. The Red Wolves have been to a bowl each of the last 2 years, but are no match for TCU. Frogs jump all over ASU.
East Texas A&M @ Tulsa- The Golden Hurricane will be 3-0 for the 1st time since 2008 when they defeat the Lions in this 1st time contest.
UAB @ Louisiana- Each team has 4 wins against the other, but the Ragin' Cajuns have won the last 3 (in 2002, 2020, and 2023), but they are only 2-1 in Lafayette. UAB has already beaten one SBC West team, and they are looking to make it 2 in a row, but UL is not ULM. Cajuns win at home.
South Dakota @ Boise State- The Broncos defeated the Coyotes in their only previous meeting, 53-10 in a Division II Quarterfinal in 1973 in Boise. SD is a quality FCS team, but they are no match for Boise State. Broncos win.
James Madison @ San Diego State- This game could have a lot of implications for the G6 pecking order for their 1 CFP slot. Unsurprisingly, the Dukes and the Aztecs have never played before. If this game were being played in Harrisonburg, I'd be tempted to pick JMU, but I think SDSU pulls out a close, hard fought game in Snapdragon Stadium.
Northern Illinois @ Arizona- The Wildcats routed the Huskies 43-14 in their only previous contes, in 1968 in DeKalb. UA has waited 58 years for the return visit, and it finally arrives. Cats win big.
North Dakota State @ Sacramento State- The Bison own a 1-0 advantage with a 42-20 win in the 1988 Division II semifinals. Both NDSU and the Hornets moved up to the FBS this season, but the Bison has flourished while Sac State has floundered a bt. NDSU wins, probably by a similar score to the 1st meeting.
Purdue @ UCLA- The Bruins have an odd 3-0-2 record against the Boilermakers, with wins in 1950, 1979, and 1980, and the ties in 1959 (0-0) and 1960 (27-27). None of the wins were by more than 14 points. It's likely that both teams are much improved from last season, as they combined for just 5 wins a season ago, but already have 3 wins between them this season. UCLA wins to extend their "dominance" over PU, though I expect another relatively close game.
Montana @ Oregon State- The Beavers finally get a team they can handle, though the Grizzlies are no slouch. OSU leads the series 12-2-2, but Montana has won the last 2, in 1990 and 1996. The Beavers dam up the losing streak and come out on top.
Fresno State @ San Jose State- This series is almost even, with the Bulldogs leading 46-40-3, winning the last 2, and 6 of the last 8. The teams are no longer in the same conference, with FS moving on to the Pac 12 and the Spartans staying behind in the Mountain West. Both teams have a loss to USC to their credit, and both have a win over a MAC team. I may be crazy, but I like SJSU in this one.
